digital insanity were commisioned to create a new stage show for gary numans 2011 tour, our role was to design a new LED screen system for the UK leg of the tour and also deliver the content to be used as a HD projection based tour of australia later in the year, the show comprising of 32 900mmx900mm 37.5mm LED panels and utilising the latest video mapping technologies. the content was a mixture of newly created content and reworkings of video from his previous touring show, all in all 18 tracks of video were created and synced via smpte timecode being driven by the bands audio backing track. a mixture of computer generated motion graphics and film were blended together to achieve the distressed grungy textures that the band had requested with a chunk of sound to light audio analysis to make the video feel like the driving wall of sound being generated on stage by the band.
